Off the Porch and Growling

Stopped by the studio today to pick up some test tiles and was pleasantly suprised. Amber my niece, more affectinately known as "Mouse" had said to suprise her with some pottery for her birthday. I said sure, what color -- so totally not thinking. Of course, red was her answer a hard color to obtain in firing the kiln not as much as in history still .. hard enough.

Anyway -- not only did the test tiles come out so did the plate. it's about 10.5 to 11 inches around and done pretty much the way I do everything. Red iron oxide, and soda ash for the external glaze and then a liner glaze. I used Firebrick, by Amaco as a liner.

So wadda ya think?
